Patrick Stillman
Artist
The Studio Door is an independent gallery that has become known as San Diego’s premier art gallery. Opened in 2014, the gallery operates as a small business. Leading by example, the gallery had encouraged and assisted thousands of artists to engage in creative commerce. The Hillcrest storefront contains a contemporary art gallery, 17 working studio spaces and robust art community. It is also the lead participant in Hillcrest Business Association’s First Thursday: Walk in Art event in Mural Alley.
Stillman’s creative work explores ideas that rise out of personal experience as a gay man. His body of work has developed as series of specialized commercial and personal projects. Artwork has been exhibited throughout Southern California with additional exhibitions at the Musée du Louvre in Paris, SCOPE Art Miami, Visual AIDS NYC and ArtShare LA. His work has also appeared in Boston Pride Guides, RFD Magazine, Chelsea Station Magazine, Advocate Magazine and Galerie Mooiman’s Your Daily Male Calendar 2022.
In collaboration with the San Diego County Library, Imperial Beach Branch, our IBAB Art Committee aims to elevate the artwork coming out of the South Bay by hosting bi-annual exhibitions. South Bay Artists (including Imperial Beach, Chula Vista, Bonita, Lincoln Acres, National City and South San Diego) are encouraged to submit artworks during the Call for Art. Please see our News/Events page for more updates.
